DUI  vs DWI vs OUI vs OWI  - What is the difference-cellular hotspots a.k.a -hotspots for police to Nab drivers.

Are they all just acronyms?
Do they all mean the same thing??
DUI - DUI  is the abbreviation of driving under the influence. The most common substance which causes this impairment of driving under the influence is alcohol ! But it can also include other agents , drugs , chemicals or medications which also can cause such impairment in driving.

DWI - DWI is the abbreviation of riving while impaired or driving while intoxicated. DWI also includes alcohol , drugs , chemicals or medications which also can cause such impairment in driving. States that use DWI are Arkansas, Alaska, Louisiana, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey and New Mexico.


OUI - OUI is the abbreviation of operating under the influence  and is commonly used at Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Maine. OUI includes anyone who is under the influence and has physical control of the vehicle -which means that even if someone is not actually driving put parked by the side of the road but is under the influence then they can be charged with OUI.

OWI - OWI is the abbreviation of operating while intoxicated. States that use OWI acronym are Iowa, Indiana and Wisconsin.

OVI - OVI  is the abbreviation of Operating a Vehicle while Impaired. Ohio uses this abbreviation. 


DWAI - DWAI  is the abbreviation of  Driving While Ability Impaired. It has a lesser drunk driving charge and carries lesser number of penalties . States that use DWAI are New York and Colorado. 
DUII - DUII is the abbreviation of  Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Oregon uses this acronym.
